Jonathan Freeman MBE appointed Chief Executive at Charity for Civil Servants.
Charity for Civil Servants is delighted to announce the appointment of Jonathan Freeman MBE, who’ll join the organisation as its new CEO in September this year, following an external recruitment process. Jonathan takes up his new role after the retirement of Graham Hooper, the Charity’s CEO over the last nine years.
Jonathan is an award-winning CEO, committed to social impact with a track record of leadership across the charitable sector, private sector and Senior Civil Service. Alongside a number of other voluntary roles, which include:
Chair of Trustees at Carers Worldwide
Non-Executive Board member at NCS Trust, and
Remuneration Committee member at St. Anne’s College, Oxford University
Jonathan is currently founder CEO of the CareTech Foundation, the leading corporate foundation in the social care sector that supports and champions care workers and those living in care through its four grant streams.
Sir Peter Schofield, Chair of the Charity’s Trustees, welcomed the news.
Sir Peter Schofield
We’re very lucky to have someone of Jonathan’s calibre joining the Charity as CEO and I look forward to working closely with him, as the Charity continues to offer such vital support to our civil service community.
As Graham retires, I also want to express on behalf of the entire Board our huge gratitude for everything he has achieved in his time as Chief Executive. His vision and leadership have not only guided us through significant challenges but have also set a solid foundation for the next stage of the Charity’s journey, with Jonathan now taking the helm.
Jonathan has this to say.
Jonathan Freeman MBE
I’m thrilled to have been entrusted to lead the Charity, at a time when the need for its support is possibly more important than at any time in its long history. This feels in many ways like coming home, having spent the first half of my career in the Civil Service. I know from first-hand experience just how important it is that effective support is in place for our hard-working and dedicated Civil Service community.
Jonathan is expected to start in the CEO role on 16th September 2024.
Jonathan also says
I can’t wait to work with the fantastic team of Trustees and staff to deliver that support, growing our scale and impact to match the need in our community. I wish Graham my thanks for leaving such a strong legacy and my best wishes as he moves on to new adventures.
We look forward to welcoming him and handing over the reins to this important Charity within the Civil Service community.
