Hello! Is it us you’re looking for? Here’s why the Charity for Civil Servants is a great place to work.
At the Charity for Civil Servants we support current, former and retired civil servants when they face tough times.
From mental health struggles and financial assistance to relationship issues, getting through grief, and coping with disability, we’re here to help people stay strong, whatever life brings. We’ve been here for civil servants for generations, providing an umbrella of support when it’s needed.
It’s an amazing time to be joining us. We are a confident, down-to-earth and dynamic organisation that has recently refreshed its brand (you can probably tell!). We’re uniting behind this new approach so we can help the thousands of people who rely on us each week.
Working here is so much more than just a job. All day, every day we’re playing a part in helping civil servants to overcome life’s difficulties.

Recruitment process
So you’ve read through everything and think that joining us sounds like a great career move. You’ve found the perfect job. Here’s what you need to know about how to apply.
We’re committed to running a fair and transparent recruitment process. When you apply, you’ll do it through our recruitment site which we use to track and process all applications.
All we’ll need from you is your CV and a covering letter. Your letter should explain why you’re right for the job. You should use it to explain how your skills and experience match what we’re looking for in the job description.
If you have a disability or a health condition that you’d like us to know about, let HR@cfcs.org.uk know before your interview and we can talk to you about adjustments.
We’ll review all applications and will shortlist everyone we want to interview. Here’s what happens next.
Good luck!
You’ll be invited to an interview with the manager of the role and a member of the HR team. Sometimes the panel will also include colleagues from your future team. We try to keep the interviews as informal as possible. They’re not a test or a trick, they’re a way for us and you to see if we’re the right fit for each other.
For some roles, you’ll be asked to prepare or complete a short, role-specific assessment. It’ll be something relevant to the role.
If we think you’re the best candidate for the role then someone from HR will call you to give you the good news. We’re always happy to answer any questions you have about the offer to help you make the right decision for you.
Whether or not you’re successful at interview, we’re always willing to provide constructive feedback to help you with your next interview.
We’ll need to see proof that you have the right to work in the UK. We’re really sorry but we can’t offer sponsorship. Once you’ve received a job offer, we’ll ask for your permission to obtain two employment references. For some roles you will also be required to apply for a DBS check or government security clearance.
