Being able to speak to someone on the phone like that… it made me feel like I was talking to a friend, and she helped me see things differently. I felt safe to talk about anything and she helped me build up my confidence… like I finally had a glimmer of hope.
Mental Health Awareness Week 12-18 May
This year, Mental Health Awareness Week is all about the power of community – something we value immensely at the Charity for Civil Servants.
The Civil Service was founded on the human instinct to help each other – to help each other live better, more fulfilling lives and create a supportive, strong community we can call on when times are tough. The Charity itself was underpinned by the very same principle. Originally in 1886, we supported destitute widows and orphans of civil servants and fast forward to today, we help civil servants and their families in a range of different ways, placing mental wellbeing at the heart of everything we do.
So, to celebrate this week, we want to remind you that whatever you’re going through, you don’t have to face it alone. You have a lifelong community behind you every step of the way – your very own charity who are here to listen without judgement and help you find a way forward.
If you feel overwhelmed, check out our umbrella of support which can be tailored to your individual needs. We may be able to offer you a powerful wellbeing conversation with our wellbeing team, you can access the Thrive App (which provides mental health support and talking therapy) or access to the Grief Works App if you’ve experienced bereavement.
You could check out our stress test and useful information on conditions like Anxiety, Autism and ADHD and Dementia not to mention our wellbeing-focused webinars which are packed full of information and resources to help people live life to the full.
If you’d like to personally support your community, you can join your Charity’s Mega Miles Challenge. We’re asking how far you can go for friends and colleagues who need your help right now. It’s supporters like you that make all the difference.
