Wellbeing in retirement

Free online training course from Don’t Tone Alone CIC. Find out how to look after your wellbeing if you are about to retire.

About the course

Are you approaching retirement or are an already retired civil servant?

Before we retire, our working life takes up a large portion of our time and becomes a central part of daily life. We often see it as part of our identity. So how do we manage this when we stop working? This course is designed to empower you to look after your wellbeing.

As life changes, it’s important that we equip ourselves with the same tools to express ourselves in a way that we did in our working life. Learning from retired civil servants, this course addresses common themes and challenges. The course looks at what it means to retire and asks participants to create personal definitions that enable them to thrive. The course provides practical frameworks to support your physical, mental and social health as you transition into retirement with confidence.

The course runs once a week for four weeks and last for approximately 1-hour on Microsoft Teams. Groups, of up to 10 people, discuss various topics and deeply reflective activities are used to get the most out of the experience. After 50 minutes of discussion, you’ll be led through a variety of physical exercises from a Don’t Tone Alone specialist instructor. Exercise sessions will vary and look at balance, relaxation, strength and flexibility.
