This is Ruki’s story.
When Ruki’s smart meter flagged her cooker and hob as unsafe, she suddenly faced an unexpected cost she hadn’t budgeted for – all while managing the pressure of the rising cost of living.
From the first conversation, our team approached Ruki’s situation with warmth, understanding and practical help.
Your team asked all the right questions about my income and expenses with kindness and empathy. Then you came through with a voucher to replace them and even helped out a bit with groceries too. Honestly, it was such a huge relief – knowing I wasn’t alone in that moment eased so much anxiety.
Ruki’s experience didn’t just make a difference to her – it inspired her to make sure others knew support was there when they needed it. She would include links to our resources so that her colleagues could easily find help.
Since my own experience, I am eager to spread the word to all Civil Service staff – not only for those who need support but also for line managers to signpost their teams to. It’s a fantastic charity doing meaningful work.
And above all, it was the compassion and reassurance that stayed with her most:
