In an era of profound change across our democratic institutions and deeply worrying levels of disengagement and disenchantment of so many young people in many communities, Patchwork Foundation’s mission has never been more important. It is a deep privilege to have been appointed as Chair of Trustees. My fervent hope is that I can help the charity to continue to inspire young people to channel their talents and desire for change in positive ways for the good of all society.
Jonathan appointed Chair of the Patchwork Foundation
We are pleased to share that our CEO, Jonathan Freeman MBE, has been appointed Chair of Trustees at the Patchwork Foundation, with his new role beginning in January 2026.
The Patchwork Foundation works to increase the participation of young people from underrepresented communities in British democracy and civil society. Jonathan has been involved with Patchwork from its earliest days, helping to guide the charity through registration and supporting its development since it was founded in 2012.
Alongside his leadership of the Charity for Civil Servants, Jonathan brings wide experience from the charitable, private and public sectors, including senior roles at Mosaic and the CareTech Foundation, as well as a career as a senior civil servant in several government departments. He was awarded an MBE in 2021 for services to the community.
Reflecting on his appointment, Jonathan said:
We are proud to see our Chief Executive sharing his time and expertise with another organisation that champions inclusion, opportunity and public service. We would like to congratulate Jonathan on this appointment and wish him every success in this additional role.
