About the app

The Grief Works app draws on 30 years of professional experience of a leading grief expert, Julia Samuel.

The App has 28 sessions of grief specific advice, dealing with a range of emotions are supported with practical resources, and there is an option of live 1-to-1 text chats with a bereavement counsellor.

App users can now access Illume live meditations, journaling sessions, and live meet-ups to help members connect with each other whilst navigating their unique journeys through grief. Each month, there are also two live group grief support sessions with Julia Samuel MBE, renowned grief psychotherapist and Vice President of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.

How to get the app

To activate your complementary 1-year access, go to the Charity for Civil Servants Portal:

  1. Click the log-in to portal button below.
  2. Sign in to the portal or register for an account if you haven’t got one already.
  3. Once you’re in, you’ll need to register for the app. Go to ‘Apply for Help’ then ‘Services’.
  4. Select Grief Works app from the options and click ‘Start Application’.

Once you’ve submitted the short application form, you’ll get a message in your portal account telling you how to download the app and an access code to activate your licence for a year.

NB. when downloading the Grief Works app, you’ll be taken to the App Store / Google Play Store website and are subject to their terms and conditions as well as those of Grief Works.

Help with using the app

If you already have Grief Works on your phone, you can update your licence by clicking the ‘Already a user? Log in’ option.

If you have problems accessing the app, uninstall it from your phone and start the process again from the second stage.
