Eventually he left. He left on bad terms. I felt like I could cope with that in my own way but I was left to raise three kids on a single income. I just couldn’t do it
Anna's story
Anna and her ex-husband had been together for 15 years. They were childhood sweethearts. They’d had a big wedding and three children but things didn’t feel the same. They gradually grew apart.
It was amicable at first but things slowly soured.
A change at home
Anna tried to put on a brave face but it was tough. She confided in her colleague who signposted to us.
Support at the toughest time
Anna got in touch and spoke to one of our advisors. She talked about her financial situation and how the change at home had pushed her into an impossible situation .
We agreed to pay towards her essential living costs to help her to keep her head above water.
I cannot express to you what that money meant to me at that time. It meant I could put food on the table for my kids. It’s as simple as that. To have a charity like this, just for us civil servants… it’s incredible. To everyone who donates, know that you’ve helped me get my kids through the toughest time of their lives. And mine. Thank you
